Next Generation Software for Sympatec Instruments
Sympatec has released the brand new PAQXOS software as the successor of the renowned and well proven WINDOX 5 software. PAXQOS supports all Sympatec instruments with a network interface and the connected dispersers, samplers and accessories for the laboratory and process environment. As PAQXOS is completely realized as a 64-bit software and takes advantage of the Microsoft c#, .net and the Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) it forms a powerful new response to current and future requirements for an instrument controlling software. It operates network wide under WINDOWS 10 or 7.

Microbead encapsulation of living plant protoplasts: a new tool for the handling of single plant cells -
Microbead encapsulation of living plant protoplasts: a new tool for the handling of single plant cellsThe publication introduces a protocol for the incorporation of individual plant protoplasts into precisely sized agarose microbeads and gives plant scientists new ways of dissecting the biophysical background of plant development. Using the 3D Flow Focusing Chip, water-based (agarose) droplets are formed as discontinuous phase. The 3D flow focusing structure is particularly useful to avoid channel fouling by utilising a "pore" structure on the outlet side of the droplet-forming junction. Dolomite's Fluidic Factory recognized with R&D 100 Award -
Dolomite's Fluidic Factory recognized with R&D 100 AwardWe are very pleased to announce that Dolomite's Fluidic Factory 3D printer has won the R&D100 Award in the 'Processing and Prototyping' category. Known as the "Oscars of Invention", the R&D 100 Awards have a 50+ year history of recognizing excellence in innovation. This year, the ceremony acknowledged the significant contribution the Fluidic Factory is making to the fast growing field of microfluidics. Fluidic Factory, the world's first commercially available 3D printer for fluidically-sealed devices, offers ultimate design creativity by allowing users to rapidly, easily and reliably print their own unique devices for their microfluidic application. Its success at the awards ceremony highlights the potential of this system to further research and development in areas such as medical diagnostics, drug development, chemical synthesis, enzymatic bioconversion, biomedical assays and education.

Green microfluidic synthesis of monodisperse silver nanoparticles via genetic algorithm optimization - This month we would like to highlight a paper published in RSC Advances. This paper describes the green and scalable synthesis of monodisperse silver nanoparticles. The synthesis made use of the Syrris Asia reactor and an optimization algorithm to rapidly screen for optimal reaction conditions for nanoparticle formation. This automated approach provided monodisperse silver nanoparticles in a rapid manner with little need for human skill or intuition, essential for method standardization and implementation.

Preview: Titan continuous processing scale-up system - We previewed Titan, our new revolutionary continuous chemical processing system at CPhI Barcelona earlier this month. Titan is a modular system, designed to enable straightforward scale-up of flow chemistry from kilo lab through pilot plant to manufacturing. Titan is an easy to use, high performance turnkey system designed for long-term use in demanding manufacturing environments. It comprises a wide range of seamlessly integrated, rapidly reconfigurable modules, enabling simple or sophisticated continuous flow processes to be performed on a lab scale, or at rates of up to a tonne per day. Titan offers flexibility and scalable functionality – extra modules can easily be added – allowing the type and complexity of processes to be easily modified, or multiple processes to be combined into a single system.
