The UVD 170U is based on PDA technology and an advanced optical design.

Unlike traditional PDA optics, however, the UVD 170U uses large surface-area discrete diodes, yielding significantly enhanced sensitivity.

This enhanced sensitivity results in a noise level normally only achieved by single wavelength detectors, reaching below ±5 µAU (dry cell, 254 nm), enabling lower limits of detection that includes even trace-level impurities.
